Welcome

The Kapiti Coast is recognised as a wonderful beach and natural environment on the lower west coast of the North Island.

Small townships of Peka Peka, Waikanae, Otaihanga, Paraparaumu and Raumati are part of this coastal plain.

The region provides miles of unspoilt beaches, vast forest walks, and a huge range of activities for all ages.

Kapiti Island is one of New Zealand's most valuable nature reserves, and is the only large Island Santuary for birds. It provides a opportunity for people to observe birds that are very rare and to experience a fantastic nature walk with unspoilt vegetation and magnificent views.  A visitors permit is required to gain access to the Island from the Department of Conservation, to ensure we protect this valuable asset.

There are many other activities such as the Nga Manu Bird Santuary, golf, cycling, walking as well as many more outdoor ventures for all ages.

Saturday is a popular day to enjoy the various markets for fresh produce or arts and crafts. These have become increasingly popular and well supported by the locals as well as attracting visitors to the area.

The region is rich with cafe's and eating places, many offering the indoor/outdoor experience, some engaging in the local musical talent for the ultimate dining experience.

The garden trails are popular and Kapiti hosts some of the most beautiful gardens which thrive in our temperate climate.

We would encourage visitors to spend some time on the Kapiti Coast, enjoy the climate, partake in many of the activities.........we think its a great place to live.
